About:

Our Mission

The mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Archives (HQBCA) is to collect and preserve items of enduring historical value relating to the historic Rondo Neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Our Collections

The bulk of our collections come from our local community and as such, the number of collections we have is always expanding! If you are a community member or someone who is interested in seeing a currently unprocessed collection, please be patient. We want to give each collection the attention it needs to be properly described--and that may take some time!

Please note that this website does not currently contain any images of our collection's items. This website is meant for educational/research purposes only. If you are interested in seeing a particular item, please contact us about scheduling an appointment. Appointments are subject to staff approval as well as state and federal guidelines, due to COVID 19.

Using a Finding Aid

A finding aid is a guide to a collection, which contains all sorts of information about the history, dimensions and condition of materials. Some finding aids contain more information than others, often due to privacy reasons. Don't be discouraged if a collection does not have all the information you are looking for! We are happy to point out other resources which might help you find what you need.

A tip: When entering a term in the search bar, place an asterisk (*) at the end of the word. This will help you find more variations of that words ending (eg., teacher* will search for both the singular and the plural forms of the word).
