Biographical / Historical

Sanford Emory Stephens, also known as Sandy, was among the first black men to play quarterback at the University of Minnesota (Gophers). In 1961 and 1962, he and his teammates went to the Rose Bowl. Also, see March 17, 1961 issue of St. Paul Recorder.
