Proclaimation reads as follows:
State of Minnesota Proclaimation
Whereas: One of the most dramatic changes occuring in our state is the aging of our population; and
Whereas: These increasing numbers of older Minnesotans bring enormous opportunities and challenges for all components of our society--families, businesses, government and volunteer groups; and
Whereas: Every segment of our society will be influenced by the needs, resources, and expertise of our older citizens; and
Whereas: The role that older Minnesotans play in the preservation and transmission of differing cultures is vital; and
Whereas: Older Minnesotans play a pivotal role in formal and informal education, sharing years of accumulated experience and wisdom which will impact on our state's future...providing a vision for a new decade;
Now, Therefore, I, Rudy Perpich, Governor of the State of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim the month of May, 1990 to be Older Americans Month in Minnesota, and call upon all Minnesotans to recognize the importance of stengthening bonds between all ages to create a bright vision for the future.
The proclaimation is signed by Rudy Perpich and the Secretary of State, Joan Anderson Growe.
